This Privacy Policy describes how ResearchWater collects, uses, shares, and protects information about visitors to researchwater.com and customers who place orders through it.

ResearchWater is committed to protecting the privacy of the qualified researchers, laboratory professionals, and institutional purchasers who use our site. This policy explains the categories of personal information we collect, the purposes for which we use it, the parties with whom we share it, and the rights you may exercise with respect to it. It applies to information collected through researchwater.com, our customer-support channels, and any other interaction with ResearchWater that references this policy.

Our service is intended only for individuals who are at least twenty-one years of age and who qualify as researchers or laboratory professionals. By using the site, you consent to the practices described below.

Information you provide. When you create an account, place an order, request a quote, download a certificate of analysis, or contact our support team, you may provide information such as your name, business or institutional affiliation, professional title, email address, phone number, billing and shipping addresses, payment instrument details (processed exclusively by our payment processors), tax-exempt or institutional purchasing credentials, and any details included in your support inquiries or order notes.

Information collected automatically. When you visit researchwater.com, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical information, including your Internet Protocol (IP) address, approximate geographic region inferred from that IP, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, screen resolution, the pages you view, the time and duration of your visits, the referring URL, and information stored in cookies or similar technologies. This information is used to operate the site, to monitor performance, and for fraud-prevention purposes.

We use the information described above to fulfill orders and communicate with you about them, including order confirmations, shipping notifications, lot-traceability records, and certificates of analysis; to verify eligibility under our Research-Use-Only Disclaimer; to provide customer support and respond to inquiries; to detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, or other unauthorized or illegal activity; to operate, maintain, and improve the site, our products, and our customer experience; to send you transactional and, where you have opted in, periodic informational messages; and to comply with our legal, regulatory, accounting, and tax obligations.

We use cookies and similar technologies in three categories. Strictly necessary cookies are required for the site to function — for example, to keep you signed in, to remember the items in your cart, and to apply security checks. Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the site so that we can improve it; these are placed by trusted analytics providers and are configured with appropriate privacy settings. Advertising cookies, where used, support measurement of marketing campaigns and the suppression of advertising to existing customers.

We do not sell personal information. We do not rent, lease, or otherwise transfer your personal information to unrelated third parties for their independent marketing purposes, and we do not engage in "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California law.

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy and to comply with our legal, accounting, tax, and regulatory obligations. Order, lot-traceability, and certificate-of-analysis records are typically retained for at least seven years. Account records are retained for the lifetime of the account plus a reasonable period thereafter. Marketing-preference records are retained until you withdraw consent or object. When personal information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymize it in a manner consistent with industry-standard practice.

Depending on the state in which you reside, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate information, to request deletion of personal information subject to certain exceptions, to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (which we do not engage in), to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and to receive your information in a portable format. These rights are subject to verification of your identity and to limitations imposed by applicable law.

To submit a request, email privacy@researchwater.com with the subject line "Privacy Request" and include enough information for us to verify your identity and locate your records. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. You may also designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf in accordance with applicable law.

We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, disclosure, or access. These safeguards include encryption in transit, access controls, network segmentation, vendor due diligence, and security monitoring. No method of electronic storage or transmission is one-hundred-percent secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any account credentials and for notifying us promptly of any suspected unauthorized access.

ResearchWater is an age-restricted service available only to individuals who are at least twenty-one years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under twenty-one. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it. Parents or guardians who believe a minor has provided personal information to ResearchWater should contact us at privacy@researchwater.com.

ResearchWater operates exclusively in the United States and currently ships only to addresses within the fifty United States. The site is hosted in, and personal information is processed in, the United States. By using the site from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction. We do not currently fulfill orders for individuals located outside the United States; institutional inquiries from non-US researchers may be directed to our team via the Contact page.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where the change is material, take reasonable steps to provide additional notice — for example, by emailing registered customers or by posting a prominent notice on the site. Your continued use of the site after the effective date of any update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
